Challenge/Opportunity

In early 2012, Hybrid Technology presented us with a project for establishing a new website that would meet these business objectives.

Educate sales prospects on the unique characteristics of Hybrid Technology’s cementing heads; what are the characteristics that establish their cementing heads as the best in the industry.
Provide new and existing customers with a unique type of product catalog. The product catalog enables website visitors to create a Request For Quote (RFQ) document and submit it to Hybrid Technology online.
Provide for self-service administration of the unique product catalog.

Scope of Project

Deliver standard features via our Blue Core CMS™ platform.

Deliver on specialized requirements for the product catalog and its administrative tools via secondary web application integrated with the pages served by our Blue Core CMS™ platform. The final website presents to the website visitors as one coherent website.

Deliver a photo-real animation demonstrating the unique internal functioning of a cementing head.

Solution

To deliver on the wide array of requirements, we first implemented the basic features using the pre-built site components of our Blue Core CMS™ platform.

The specialized product catalog with built-in RFQ management features was implemented in a separate (but integrated) Microsoft ASP.NET MVC4 Web application.

The photo-real animation was sub-contracted to an animation expert; although we wrote the script for the animation.

Built-In Website Features

	Responsive Design All websites hosted on our Blue Core CMS™ platform are cross-device and cross-browser compatible. Each website is integrated with jQuery 2.x, Bootstrap 3.x and supplemental JavaScript and CSS libraries. These open source libraries provide a useful balance between support for modern mobile-friendly website features and backwards compatibility with older browsers.
	Informational Pages Informational pages house static content on the website that may be permanent or routinely updated. The self-service administrative features on Blue Core CMS™ make it easy to safely perform these updates yourself. Alternatively, our support team can perform updates for you, and typically at no additional cost.
	Rotators A rotator can contain images, announcements or any other content deemed relevant to the audience. The moving elements keep content fresh and engaging and also highlight key messages or value propositions about your business. A specialized editor in our Blue Core CMS™ platform makes it easy to add,remove, and arrange slides in rotators. You can also schedule slides to appear an disappear on predetermined dates.
	Forms - Inquiry Form Choose anything from a basic contact form to a full custom application form that can be submitted online. The forms delivered via our Blue Core CMS™ platform are easily customized. Each form is backed by a database where the data provided by your website visitors is stored permanently. When visitors submit a form, the data is automatically written to the database, then sent to you and/or others in your organization as an email message. Advanced security features built into our Forms component prevent automated form spam from being submitted through our system.

Specialized Product Catalog

Rather than filling a shopping cart and paying for parts, this catalog enables website visitors to add parts to a Request For Quote (RFQ) and submit the RFQ to Hybrid Technology office staff for review and follow-up. This arrantement is necessary because each cementing head (and constituent parts) are custom-built for each customer.

The product catalog enables website visitors to navigate amongst the various models of cementing heads; then “drill down” into the exploded parts diagrams of the various constituent assemblies that comprise each cementing head. At any point in the navigation process, the website visitor can add parts to the current Request For Quote (RFQ).

Request For Quote (RFQ) Management

The events calendar includes a custom RSVP feature that enables members or non-members to register for events. The RSVP feature is integrated with PayPal to enable immediate payment when due.

Custom Catalog Administration Features

The unique product catalog is managed only via custom admin pages that facilitate the unique product definitions and complex relationships amongst the products that comprise the various assemblies that comprise each cementing head

Other Deliverables

During the course of our engagement with Hybrid Technology, we performed a comprehensive strategic communications analysis process, resulting in a set of recommendations for several tactical deliverables – including website improvements.

We also delivered several photo-real animations showing the functionality and inner-workings of a cementing head (link to primary animation is available on the website’s home page).
